Bellini Cipriani: A Fresh Take on Taste (not real)

Still Renders & Animation

This project started with a simple goal: a rendering test of glass and liquid in Blender’s Cycles engine. It quickly evolved into a more involved personal project when I decided to digitally capture the label of an old Georgian wine bottle from my basement. To achieve this, the project involved camera and object tracking and uncongenial photogrammetry in order to transfer the label to 3D space without damaging it.

What followed was a learning process that took longer than initially anticipated, involving experimentation and overcoming some challenges. Eventually, I perfected a technique that allowed me to achieve a photorealistic digital label, leaving the old wine bottle safe and unopened, with its original label intact.

Modeling, Textures & Materials

At most of the projects where time alows I put an effort on creating my own materials and materials. While the modeling of the wine glass, grapes and bottle itself was relatively straightforward, I had to skink significant amount of time on crafting a photorealistic glass material. Building the intricate shader node tree in Cycles to accurately simulate the properties of glass proved to be a complex but ultimately rewarding process.

Additionally, the modeling of the grapes within the bottle required time and careful detailing to achieve a believable result, but the final outcome made the effort worthwhile.

Object Tracking & Projection Painting

To accurately recreate the label in 3D, I utilized a combination of techniques, including photogrammetry for initial capture, camera and object tracking to align the data, projection painting for detail, and de-lighting to ensure realistic rendering.
